Product overview

Browse every official Xactimate category code in one searchable directory — all 91 three-letter categories, from ACC to XST, with their full names and plain-English notes on the ones that trip people up. Type a fragment of a code or a word like “floor” or “window” and the list filters live. Reach for it when a line item needs a home and you're not sure whether tile floors are TIL or FCT (they're FCT), where countertops live (CAB — there is no countertop category), or what the CONT: contents-cleaning family covers.

Every Xactimate line item lives under a three-letter category code — RFG roofing, DRY drywall, WTR water extraction and remediation — and the category drives how estimates are organized, searched, and reviewed. This directory lists the official public set of 91, with names verified against Xactware's own publications rather than guessed. The notes flag the traps: structure cleaning is CLN while contents cleaning is the CONT: family (CAP, CGN, CHF and friends), wall tile is TIL but tile floors are FCT, lawn sprinklers are SPR while fire sprinklers are FPS. From any category, the code lookup tool searches the verified selector codes underneath it.

Vendor insights

Mensuria writes a neutral scope built to survive review — every line item sourced to a photo, anything unprovable held back and flagged for you. It never files the estimate; a licensed adjuster confirms every line and stays the adjuster of record. Mensuria is independent and not affiliated with Verisk or Xactimate; “Xactimate-ready” means the worksheet is organized for Quick Entry.

Common questions

They're the three-letter prefixes that organize every line item in an Xactimate estimate by trade or work type — RFG for roofing, PNT for painting, WTR for water extraction and remediation. The full official set is 91 categories, published by Verisk. Every selector code lives under exactly one category, so knowing the category is the first half of finding any line item, and it's how reviewers spot scope that's filed under the wrong trade.

Cabinetry — CAB. There is no separate countertop category, which surprises people writing kitchen scopes; countertop line items (laminate, solid surface, granite) are selectors under CAB alongside the cabinet boxes. Filing countertops under a made-up code is one of the common ways estimates fail review. The same directory logic answers the other classics: tile floors are FCT (floor covering — ceramic tile), while TIL covers wall and surface tile.

CLN is structure cleaning — walls, ceilings, contents-free surfaces, HEPA work on the building itself. The CONT: family covers contents: CAP cleans appliances, CHF hard furniture, CUP upholstery and soft goods, CPS is packing, handling, and storage, and CON is content manipulation — moving things to work, not cleaning them. Splitting structure from contents matters because carriers often track and pay them under different coverages (Coverage A versus C).
